Name: Willow Rivera Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  Apple commercials are usually done in two ways. the product is usually showcasing the product's features or being used by people. The product is always shown by celebrities or people with tech backgrounds . We wanted to challenge that during our commercial. Since this is a school project, we wanted to incorporate that into the ad. The commercial is from the perspective of an everyday student. We show different elements to what the students would be doing with said MacBook while showing off its features. The actors are shown using various apps found on the MacBook. One actor is shown using the word app that is already installed on the computer as the other actor is listening to music which is another feature on the MacBook.  2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text

commercial blog

Today was the last day for working on our commercial. It is finally complete and I couldn't be happier. I really enjoyed our first project and working with a group. I got to be one of the actors for the ad and it was an unexpected experience. I use the word unexpected because I wasn't too sure if the position was for me but it worked out in the end. The project itself allowed for different opportunities while filming and increased my knowledge of production. It also allowed for communication skills since we got to collaborate with the other students. Doing this project and being able to see other parts of the production process really opened my eyes to different jobs. I will be taking those skills into consideration for future projects. I'm glad we got this as our first Cambridge project and can't wait for the next one.

Filming process

Today was a continuation of last classes editing. The editor, Jacob, for our project hasn’t changed but I and the other members get to help with decisions. Mostly everything was done the first day of editing and today was to perfect it. The shots have already been cut and the music is added. I oversaw the quote process with the editor. After coming up with the idea, I later suggested an editing website to find the words. “Made for you” is used often so it was easy to find and assessable. Jacob saved the quote on his computer in order to add it into IMovie. IMovie was such a good editing software especially since the whole commercial is to promote Macbooks. The quote is placed right after our zoom out shot which is one of my favorites. I loved filming and helping figure out what things to cut on that one especially because it was the finale cut. It was the shot and with the added quote makes it better. The group and I also made a collective decision to add the Apple logo. Again, finding

Today my group and I worked mostly on editing and the decision-making process. I didn't have much to do with the general editing because that was up to Jacob. However, I did put in my standpoint on certain things. I helped when cutting the clips or choosing what shots should stay. Since most of my shots didn't line up with our original recording- I thought it was best to not include those or the other ones from the classroom. My teammate wanted our opinion on the songs, which I had given prior to him. He stuck with the first suggestion of Passion by Pinkpantherss . I watched as he needed to use an mp3 downloader and find the audio on Spotify. The process was a lot different than I imagined as he had to do it within school guidelines. The editing software used was IMovie which added a lot to the project. Using that rather than starmovie or any other website showed another feature present on the Macbooks. After the audio was placed, everyone in the group including myself helped w

Filming day 2 Blog

For the second day of filming, we observed more than we shot. After reviewing the shots from Thursday, my group and I thought it would be best to go back out for more footage. It wasn't all the clips that needed to be done, so we did it periodically. We went back outside to the original spot of filming. The area, at this time, was filled with students so we had to go with our backup plan. We went back to the classroom and filmed there. I, again, was the second actor so I didn't have to film till a little bit later in the period. Instead, I helped set up the area for shooting. The concept for our commercial didn't change so we were still capturing a student's life. I was helping set up the computer and area to look like a student's desk. I laid out assignments from other classes and set up a word document for the first actor, Lucia, to write on. Once it was my turn to be filmed, I got to listen to more music and use features on the mac. Since it was the second day of

Filming Blog: Senior Patio

T oday, September 30,2021, was our first day of filming for our commercial. My group and I decided to make me one of the actors. I was skeptical at first because I tend to laugh when nervous or anxious, but it worked out in the end. I walked over to my school’s senior patio since that was the main location. I brought my prop, MacBook Air, and set it up near the staircase. Since I play student 2, I got to help get things into order and help whenever needed before my scenes. I held up our storyboard so we can shoot and perform accurate scenes. Another member in our group and I wanted to stay out of the scenes of actor 1, Lucia, so we walked off to just talk before we had to do anything. Once it was my turn to be filmed, I sat at one of the higher levels of the staircase. I began to listen to music since I had to show the computers aspect of music. I randomly shuffled my playlist and began listening. I had to bop my head and engage in the music for the full effect. At first, I thought it
