Editing Blog

Today my group and I worked mostly on editing and the decision-making process. I didn't have much to do with the general editing because that was up to Jacob. However, I did put in my standpoint on certain things. I helped when cutting the clips or choosing what shots should stay. Since most of my shots didn't line up with our original recording- I thought it was best to not include those or the other ones from the classroom. My teammate wanted our opinion on the songs, which I had given prior to him. He stuck with the first suggestion of Passion by Pinkpantherss. I watched as he needed to use an mp3 downloader and find the audio on Spotify. The process was a lot different than I imagined as he had to do it within school guidelines. The editing software used was IMovie which added a lot to the project. Using that rather than starmovie or any other website showed another feature present on the Macbooks. After the audio was placed, everyone in the group including myself helped with the cutting of scenes. Since the assignment was a 30-second commercial, shots needed to be cut. Shortly after, when all clips were complete, the group decided we should add a quote to end things off. Everyone bounced ideas around till someone mentions "made for you". I thought it was perfect since you can customize your MacBook to really make it your own. I overlooked our group's editor, Jacob, find the quote on a different website in order to add it to the commercial. Since it's a pretty common saying it wasn't too hard to find. I suggested the website "Canva" which is useful for editing. We found it and added it to our final product.

After a month of shooting, re-filming, and editing, the project is almost complete. We're relieved and grateful that the project is almost finished. For us, the entire process of making the film was pleasant. Although some areas, such as filming, proved to be more difficulty. Our schedule gave us the most trouble because everyone was so busy. We fixed it in the end and it worked perfectly. The initial planning, storyboarding, and filming were, in our opinion, the most enjoyable aspects of the project. It gave us a lot of creative liberties and allowed for fun. Here, everyone was free to express their ideas, and we all knew what to do. The editing, on the other hand, was not as straightforward. Unfortunately, the video could only fully be edited and assembled by one of our team members. The rest of us couldn't help as much but observe and tried our best with what our groupmate was doing. Genre research: Thriller

Thriller is a genre that focuses on catching the audience's attention by inflicting suspense or anticipation. A commonly confused with the genre horror, the thriller genre is drastically different. While Horror focuses on scaring the audience and prioritizes the main confrontation as the climax thriller does otherwise. In the Thriller Genre, its main goal is to leave tension and leave the audience on edge. There are many camera angles used in the thriller genre. For example, the most common filming angles are closeups or extreme closeups, low and high angle shots, canted angle shots, wide shots, and more. What is en scene is used can drastically change a film. In thrillers typically low-level lighting, props, and little to no makeup are essential. This is to make the film more believable for the audience. To pair with believability and to add emotion when editing thriller films pacing is key. Font: We will be using either a comic book style font such as MV Boli or Sitka Test which allows for a clean look example:  Contrast: Color- White or black Size- sizing depends on the scene and what fits Purpose- what is important for the audience to read? The different titles give the audience the idea of who did what and the production they are able to receive during the film Working title: "Unforgettable" - and will be in all caps using our designated font:  SOMETHING ALONG THESE LINES How will the titles (the words) enter and leave the screen?
