Filming Blog: Senior Patio

Today, September 30,2021, was our first day of filming for our commercial. My group and I decided to make me one of the actors. I was skeptical at first because I tend to laugh when nervous or anxious, but it worked out in the end. I walked over to my school’s senior patio since that was the main location. I brought my prop, MacBook Air, and set it up near the staircase. Since I play student 2, I got to help get things into order and help whenever needed before my scenes. I held up our storyboard so we can shoot and perform accurate scenes. Another member in our group and I wanted to stay out of the scenes of actor 1, Lucia, so we walked off to just talk before we had to do anything. Once it was my turn to be filmed, I sat at one of the higher levels of the staircase. I began to listen to music since I had to show the computers aspect of music. I randomly shuffled my playlist and began listening. I had to bop my head and engage in the music for the full effect. At first, I thought it looked silly, but everyone reinsured me that it was fine. I then had to show the lyrics of the song which I didn’t know how to do at first. After a quick google search- I scrolled to a song and brought up the lyrics for the next scene. Following seeing the footage of the ending shot, I had to be moved for a better angle. I was then moved into a chair on the opposite side of the stairs. The angle was much better at this time, so we all walked back to the classroom. Since I put on a random song, I talked with the group’s editor, Jacob, to see if it needed to be mortified. My job was essentially done so I just watch him cut and choose the scenes for the final results.
