editing blog for music videos
Although my main purpose on the music video was not to edit, I saw and heard a lot of things done during the editing process. Jacob was responsible for such things as adding the music and making the video come together. The main focus for the first day of editing was to cut out any video that didn't fit or did not match our storyboard. We all decided to use iMovie for the editing software as we did for the commercial project. I know that software allows you to just drag clips and drop them in place, unlike many other websites or apps. No one in the group including Jacob has much experience with editing of any sort so using an initial beginner program is perfect. Since I wasn't with Jacob while he was editing it was hard to see the process of editing but he kept in contact with us as a group for input. We all decided on the song choice a while ago so that was the easiest part. He had downloaded it to his computer in order to drag it over to iMovie. Finally, it was time to transport all the videos of us at the fair to the editing software. He arranged the clips into order based on the storyboard. The clips included those of all the actors walking to and getting in the car, us waiting in line, and our common actions throughout the park. While Jacob did this, he allowed us to give him advice on how we could improve the final product. He noticed some clips may be too long and asked where he should shorten them. I gave my advice whenever it was asked but I mostly let Jacob take control.
Cutting scenes short, I thought it would cut the overall time frame we have for the music video. I was reinsured it wouldn't be too short due to us recording a lot of extra scenes just in case. I figured pertaining to the storyboard would be a challenge due to the amount of time that was taken to record those parts such as all the actors getting wristbands. The process was easy but it took a while since all of us had to pay, be stamped then the worker put the wristbands on for us to enter the fair. The scene is very important for our overall product but Jacob said it would be fine to shorten the clip so we tried it and it worked just as well. Half of the editing is complete once the final touches are done and the story can be told in a consecutive order, our second project for AICE media will be done!
